1. Bonding substance.
The bonding substance, also called the binder, is an essential component in the adhesive and acts as a binder. Its properties determine the properties, uses and conditions of use of the adhesive. Various resins, rubbers, and natural polymer compounds are generally used as the binding substance.
2. Curing agent
A curing agent is a component that promotes the curing of a binder by a chemical reaction. Some resins (such as epoxy resins) in adhesives do not themselves become hard solids without the addition of a curing agent. The curing agent is also the main component of the adhesive, and its properties and amount play an important role in the performance of the adhesive.
3. Toughener
The toughening agent is a component for improving the toughness of the bonding layer and improving its impact strength. Commonly used toughening agents are dibutyl phthalate and dioctyl phthalate.
4. Thinner
Thinner, also known as solvent, mainly acts to reduce the viscosity of the adhesive, so as to facilitate the operation and improve the wettability and fluidity of the adhesive. Commonly used diluent organic solvents are acetone, benzene and toluene.
5. Filler
The filler generally does not undergo a chemical reaction in the adhesive, and it can increase the consistency of the adhesive, decrease the coefficient of thermal expansion, reduce the shrinkage, and improve the impact strength and mechanical strength. Commonly used fillers are talc, asbestos powder and aluminum powder.
6. Modifier
Modifiers are some components added to improve the performance of a certain aspect of the adhesive to meet special requirements. For example, to increase the bonding strength, a coupling agent may be added, and a preservative, a mildew inhibitor, and a resist may be added. Fuels and stabilizers, etc. |
